What is your relationship to your life story?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 17, 2007:
This question has made me think about my relationship with parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, teachers, friends, boyfriends, employers, jobs, my son and my husband + others. Who is the author? I don't know. I think it's not a book -- it's more like a movie or a tv show, in that it doesn't have just one author. Or maybe it is a book, but it's a compilation of short stories with different authors. No-- it's definitely more like a show or a movie. I'm one of the main characters and maybe I'm one of the writers-----
no-- here it is--- I'm the host-- like the Ellen or the Ophrah or the Steven Colbert or John Stewart-- I'm the constant, though not always the center of attention and my name is the reason why people come on the show or tune in now and then. There are different guests everyday and some regular contributors. Most of the guests are more important or famous or richer than I am and I help them be even more so, or at least they think I do and that's why they are on my show. On my show, there are other writers, but I get to shape the overall feel of things. I might even be the producer. I think my parents were like the biggest sponsors when the show first came on the air. So they got to have a big influence. Now I'm one of the big sponsors in my son's life story talk show, but as he is a teenager, he starting to look for other, hipper, newer sponsors. :-)
Yesterday I was taking a bunch of photographs of landscapes while hiking with my sweet, sweet husband. I called out to him to stay still at one point. I said, "I need you for perspective." I meant for the photograph, but then I thought how wise and profound I was. I do need him for perspective--- that's probably why we married. I think he needs me for perspective too. In NYC, Farland and Jordan are the ones I needed for perspective. and so many others.
Yeah-- it's a talk show kinda thing-- lot's of writers, sponsors, guests, regulars (like the band-- maybe that's my sis and my good friends-- heehee heh.) and plenty of audience members with varying degrees of interest and many different opinions of the merit of this particular show.
it's 6:30am. time for me to get ready to go home from work. my relief is here. she's got the primetime spot on this 9-1-1 station. haha.
goodnight zaadsters. I missed you while I was on day shift and never logged in.

THIS IS FANTASTIC! Really enjoyable to read. Thanks SfL!!! Very perceptive. A real aha!
We missed you too.
“I need you for perspective.” That almost made me weep. (And I need Farland for perspective, too–but that's mostly because I think mothers provide the most important perspectives of all.)
Hello, just this contribution (i love playing with letters in words to search for connected meanings.. as if they are hidden, waiting to become found)
synonim for light response and the comment of meenakshi lead me to this one
perspective= perceptive ,
so to be perspective you have to be perceptive…
have a nice weekend!
Such a sweet, kind, and…well…perceptive post. Thank you for writing this.
Dawn, you noticed the poignancy of that comment. And Adam was probably needed for being so small in the perspective and the need and trueness of the statement is so big
Ok all of you. I'm going right now to find the two photos from the recent nyc trip that relate to this whole post. I have some goosebumps. :-)
