my friend sent my husband & I both this link Free Rice
adam went there first and played the game
then, knowing how much I am fascinated by words and language and having a competitive streak, he insisted that I go and play the game and see what my score would be compared to his.
I'd been playing for 15 minutes when I stopped to take this screen shot-- because look!, at the bottom, is the ad from gaiam company, which helps to pay for the rice that you are winning to send to someone who needs it.
kind cool-- thanks gaiam. :)

This is very addictive! I played for about 20 mins. tonight.
First saw this on Asian Woman's blog a couple of months ago, and played for 2 days.
Sent it on to friends and they also got addicted - AND LET ME KNOW IT ;>)
TRY IT YOU'LL LIKE IT!
I Love this game. I have donated quite a lot of time and rice to the cause.
I love words too.
Wow you got good vocab level.
I'm interested to watch my average increase as I play,
I guess thats the way of life.
Merry Chrisse and much Love
Om Shanti
This was so awesome. A great stress reliever and so much more mentally stimulating than a lot of the “mind candy” on the Net. And, it's for a good cause too. I played for a bit, and then my husband and eldest daughter gave it a try. Thanks for posting the link.
I couldn't get a snapshot pic of the page as you did it. How did you do it? LOVED IT! Thanks.
Love it! I donated 1,000 grains after playing for 15 minutes and got a rating of 36, not bad!
Will go back from time to time and spread it around! We need more such conscious games! Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Mila
Thank you so much - I do so love words. But it's all your fault if I'm playing rather than posting. Oh wait, they're both playing. Forgot.
wow ! awesome post n game too , infact something strengthening intellectual, vocabulary, learning power, improving english skill.
I love it it is very useful game and so also charity work too.
My goodness, i did not know how long i played but clinged with this compelling game untill completed accumulation of 10, 000 ( ten thousand grains ) and got rating of 19 which is poor but i am so glad that i donated 10,000 grains, hurray - cheer up Dawn for this great and beneficial post.

Thanks for bringing this to folks' attention. A friend sent it to me about a week or so ago.
I play between level 45-50 and can't wait for the new words next year!
It's a great charity and I'm glad to help.
Meenakshi,
I was using a Mac computer– on it I pressed the apple key and the shift key and the 3 key all at once– it makes a screenshot and puts it on the desktop of the computer. then I put it up on the blog the same way as if I was posting a photo with the blog.
I'm not sure how you take screen shots on a windows based computer. anyone else here know the answer?
I'm glad everyone had some fun with it! :)
With the various Windows editions just use <Crtl><PrtScr>. That'll place whatever image is on your desktop into the clipboard - it can then be pasted into whatever…..
Once you told me it never ended I lost the test stress. This is so fun! I love vocabulary words! I'll show it to the girls when they come back.
I do declare: Intent is the ultimate currency of integral sustenance here. I am humbled how recreational it can be to nurture and be nurtured at the same time, when we use our imagination!
I learned something new about myself today!
Thanks for the print screen tip. I have windows, and had used it; but the bg images hadn't been saved. Ah well! The game's the thing. Thanks again.
